Summary

The Business Continuity Foundation course is designed to give you an overall view of this absorbing subject through a mixture of presentations, group work, discussions, videos and a game.   Little prior knowledge of the subject is assumed but a modicum of common sense is vital.  The relative newcomer to the subject, whether at management or operational level, will leave ready to initiate a business continuity programme for their organisation or contribute fully to one already in place.  Those with some experience may find some of their pre-conceptions challenged and will be expected to share their views.

This covers the six certification standards defined by the BCI and uses the BS 25999 as a structure for the course.

There will be a small library of continuity-related materials to browse and the dress code is smart casual.  No specific preparation is required for the course. However it would be useful if you have looked at the BCI's Good Practice Guidelines (from www.thebci.org)

The location

This 3-day residential course runs several times a year and is usually held at the spectacularly-sited Cotswold Conference Centre near Evesham.  The catering at the Conference Centre is excellent and there is usually plenty of choice, including a vegetarian option.   Venue information
