Summary

Developing and Running a Business Continuity exercise may be daunting when the participants will be your colleagues and senior management. This very practical course will give you a chance to learn and practice tried and tested techniques that you can apply to your own exercises to make them more engaging and realistic.

This course is primarily aimed at those on the BC Team tasked with developing and running exercises. It can be run as an in-house course providing additional experience to those participating in the 'exercise'.

  • Learn effective training techniques for use in company training

  • Practice exercise development and management in a controlled environment

  • Learn techniques of exercise logistics and to stimulate interest and involvement

  • Planning the Exercise Programme

  • Incremental testing : Technical testing, Desktop exercises, The BC exercise, The Incident Management exercise

  • Developing an exercise

  • Planning timetable : Participants, Timetable, Structure, Materials, Scenario selection

  • Developing an exercise (practical),

  • Technology & Resources (practical in groups)

  • Use of technology

  • Sources of resources

  • Exercise Management skills :  Involvement, Logistics and Layout, Control and timing

  • Running an Exercise (practical) 

  • De-briefing (practical)

  • Evaluation, Feedback and reporting

  • An exercising Policy  

Format

The core of the course is a series of group sessions with the objective of providing practical experience of developing, managing and de-briefing an exercise. An appropriate selection of presentation, discussion and video will be used to develop and illustrate learning points. A laptop may be useful for preparation of materials but is not essential.  

The location  

This 2-day residential course will run several times a year and is usually held at the spectacularly-sited Cotswold Conference Centre near Evesham.  The catering at the Conference Centre is excellent and there is usually plenty of choice, including a vegetarian option.   Venue information
